Sixth Grade Band Curriculum Objectives
Performing on instruments, alone, and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
1a Plays 1 and 1/2 octaves on a wind or basic rudiments on a percussion instrument.
1b Displays initial understanding of proper embouchure and holding technique for their instrument.
1c Plays music and can count rhythms contained in a level 1 method
1d Plays grade 1 sectional parts in an ensemble.
1e Begins to produce a quality tone on their instrument.
1f Begins to develop technique for articulations and dynamics.
Reading and notating music.
2a Sight-reads rhythms contained in a level 1 method book.
2b Sight-reads simple, short melodic phrases.
