Diadel Ortiz has been nominated as a National Life LifeChanger of the Year. The program recognizes and rewards K-12 school employees and educators who make a positive difference in the lives of students. Diadel is in the running to receive one of seventeen cash prizes. The Grand Prize is $10,000 to be split between the winner and the school.
This is an opportunity to show pride in Montpelier educators and what they do for our children! You can support Diadel's nomination by visiting her profile at LifeChangeroftheyear.com to leave a supportive comment. If you know Diadel personally, you can share a story about how she changed the life of someone you know.

The Kindergarten students will be collecting food for the food pantry at the Thanksgiving lunch next Wednesday. If you are coming for the lunch, it would be awesome if you could bring a non-perishable item. There will boxes outside of the Kinder classroom for donations. You can drop donations off anytime through Wednesday. Thanks! K Team

Union Elementary School, in partnership with the Vermont Foodbank, has a program called the Backpack Program. The Backpack Program will provide a bag of non-perishable food to your child each Friday for him or her to eat over the weekend. the food will be placed in your child's backpack at the end of the day and it is not intended to be opened until the child is home. The program is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2017, and will run throughout the school year. The content of the food changes every two weeks. If your child has any allergies to food, please let us know. Your child is invited to participate in this great program. Any student can participate regardless of income status or eligibility. Students who have siblings can also participate (each child gets one bag).
