Transportation Eligibility

The Montpelier Board of School Commissioners directs the administration to provide for the daily busing of all Kindergarten through grade 5 students in accordance with the following guidelines.

I. TRANSPORTATION ELIGIBILITY AREA ­ LOCATION OF RESIDENCE

1. State Street west of Bailey Avenue

2. Terrace Street, Clarendon Avenue and Bailey Avenue (above Terrace Street)

3. Elm Street north of Pearl Street

4. North Street north of Mechanic Street

5. Main Street north of Merrill Terrace

6. Towne Street and Towne Hill area

7. All areas south of the Winooski River

II. Students who are not otherwise eligible for bus service by location of residence will be transported on a space available basis if they are to be picked up and/or dropped off at a child care provider who is located in the eligible area as defined in #I above. These waivers will be granted after the first three weeks of school with priority given to the youngest children.

III. Montpelier students who attend St. Michael's School or other other private school located within the City of Montpelier area to be transported under the same guidelines as exist for Montpelier Public School students.

IV. These guidelines may not be changed without the approval of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners.
