Rubric for Bus Behavior
Union Elementary School

Goal: All students and adults will have an opportunity for safe and pleasant bus transportation to and from school and on all other school related trips.

 Getting Along With Others

 I use words and/or actions that are hurtful or disrespectful, such as swearing, name calling, teasing, threatening, spitting, pushing, kicking, or hitting.  If someone reminds or encourages me I stop, think, and remember not to use hurtful or disrespectful words or actions. I practice using friendly and polite words and gestures.  I use friendly and polite words and actions. I try to be helpful to others.

 Sitting Safely

  I stand up, I turn around in my seat, I put my feet on the seat, or I get out of my seat.  If someone reminds or encourages me I will sit down, face forward, put my feet on the floor and keep them out of the aisle.  I am sitting up, facing forward, with my feet on the floor in front of me.

 Voice and Noise Level

 I am yelling, screaming, or using a very loud voice. I am making loud or distracting noises with my body, voice, or other things.  If someone reminds or encourages me I will talk with a quiet voice and keep my body and property quiet.  I talk with a quiet voice and keep my body and property quiet.

 Throwing, Projecting, Dropping Objects

 I throw or project objects on the bus, at the bus, or out the window.  If someone reminds or encourages me I stop, think, and remember not to throw or project objects on the bus, at the bus, or out the window.  I refrain from throwing or projecting objects on the bus, at the bus, or out the window.

 Eating and Drinking

 I eat food on the bus. I drink on the bus. After a reminder I continue eating or drinking on the bus.  If someone reminds or encourages me I put away any food or drink.  I refrain from eating or drinking on the bus.
